About me<\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

Hi \u2013 I’m Paula Truyens, owner of Truyens|Text. Welcome to my website!<\/span><\/p>\n

I was born in a big barn in South Africa (actually, it was Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town). When I was eight my mother and I moved<\/del> hitchhiked to Lesotho, where she became an English teacher at Masitise High School in Quthing (yes, a click-word!) and I learned how to speak Sesotho fluently. I also learned which wild plants in Lesotho are edible and saw the footprint of a Lesothosaurus, but that’s off-topic for the purposes of this website. Eight years later, having completed GCE “O” levels at Machabeng College in Maseru, I moved to the Netherlands and rapidly became proficient in Dutch as I completed pre-university education in The Hague. After studying Biology at Utrecht University, I enrolled in a translation course at a private institution, rounding this off by becoming a court-sworn translator in 1996. Since then I have attended numerous translation workshops, seminars, minors and day courses. <\/span><\/p>\n

As an in-house translator, I worked on translation and revision projects for a <\/span>wide range of clients, mostly in the fields of Development Cooperation, Higher Education, Law, Insurance, Appraisals, Architecture, Infrastructure & Environment and Energy. My in-house activities also involved terminology management, proofreading, basic IT troubleshooting and contributing to company strategy. In 2009, I launched my freelance business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wie ben ik?<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

Ik ben opgegroeid in Zuidelijk Afrika en heb mijn middelbare onderwijs afgerond op een Britse school. Op zestienjarige leeftijd verhuisde ik naar Nederland en voltooide mijn VWO opleiding in Den Haag. Na mijn studie Biologie aan de Universiteit van Utrecht volgde ik een vertaalopleiding en werd be\u00ebdigd als vertaler in 1996. Sindsdien heb ik deelgenomen aan tal van seminars, minors, cursussen en vertaalworkshops<\/span><\/p>\n
